In this article, you will find out what cameras and other video equipment does Jake Paul use to create his YouTube videos.
Besides that, I will share several tips and tricks about different camera types used by Jake. Hopefully, it will help you to become a better YouTuber for yourself.
So, what camera does Jake Paul use? Jake Paul has two main cameras. Sony Alpha a7S II and Canon XA30. Both are high-end professional cameras that cost around 2000 USD, but only his Sony Alpha a7S II is a perfect fit for live streaming videos. For vlogging videos, he uses Sony GoPro and Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II. For all of his cameras, except GoPro, Jake Paul uses two different Sony camera lenses.
All of Jake Paul’s video cameras cost approximately 4100 USD. Yes, that sounds expensive, but take a look at Unbox Therapy’s YouTube Setup. They have three Canon c500’s and each camera costs 16 000 USD. Their studio equipment is by far the most expensive from the ones I have reviewed on this blog.
Anyway, let’s take a closer look at Jake’s video equipment by doing quick reviews of his cameras. You’ll also learn which other YouTubers use the same cameras as Jake.
Here is the list of all equipment Jake Paul uses to shoot and edit his YouTube videos.

What Vlogging Camera Does Jake Paul Use?
For his vlogging videos, Jake Paul uses two cameras – Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II and GoPro HERO7 Black.
Jake’s Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II is also used by such YouTubers as Logan Paul (Jake’s brother), FaZe Rug, RomanAtwood, and many others.
Its a total package for vloggers, but you could do even better than that by using recently updated model Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III. Keep reading, and you’ll find out why it could easily become the best camera for vlogging.
So the PowerShot G7 X Mark II has a tilting touchscreen and optical image stabilization. It’s a lightweight camera that might even fit in your jeans pocket. Some put this came next to Nikon 5xxx or Canon T series DSLR cameras.
Here are some of its specs:
- Max resolution – 5472×3648;
- Effective pixels – 20;
- Focal length – 24-100mm;
- Max aperture – F.18-2.8.
If you’re getting this camera, download and install the Canon Camera Connect app on your smartphone.
It will allow you to control your camera from within an app and to transfer your photos and videos from your camera to your phone.
Note that it won’t be possible to attach an external microphone to this camera.
This camera on Amazon costs around 499.00 USD and be aware of the fact that an additional battery will cost you an extra 40 USD.
Bring it to the next level and get PowerShot G7 X Mark III instead:
- External microphone (not available on G7 X Mark II);
- Leve Streaming Capable (not available on G7 X Mark II);
- Vertical video support (not available on G7 X Mark II).
Well, it costs 200 USD, but in my opinion, it is well worth the money.
It’s pre-installed YouTube streaming application will allow you to schedule your live streams without ever connecting to your PC or Mac. Option to record your live streams simultaneously is available as well.
Is vertical video the next big thing? I guess we’ll have to wait to find out, but the G7 X Mark III will be there for you if it happens.
Anyway, both cameras are great, if not the best vlogging cameras out there. Both cameras have flip-up selfie displays with touchscreens. Both have built-in ND filters and optical image stabilization.
Jake is also using Sony Alpha a7S II.
Full kit with 3 Rokinon lenses inside will cost around 3600 USD. The body alone costs around 900 USD. It might be one of the best cameras for capturing low light videos, and it has nice slow motion capabilities as well.
Note that it might take a while to learn all the settings and everything. Also for lifelong Canon users.
What Action Camera Does Jake Paul Use?
I am pretty sure you are familiar with all the reasons why action cameras are great for vlogging – they’re compact, rugged, and waterproof cameras. All of it makes them a perfect fit for travel and sports vlogs.
Jake Paul’s GoPro HERO7 shoots beautiful 4K 60fps videos, and it can be used to live stream videos on YouTube, Facebook, and other platforms via RTMP as well.
Its price on Amazon is around 280 USD. I recommend getting GoPro’s accessories kit like this one on Amazon as well.
Such accessories kits usually include a bag and various mounts for the action camera.
If you want to get the best video quality out of your camera, get Micro DS Card that has letters XC not the HC on it. It means getting a faster Micro SD Card.
Alternatively, you could also look at action cameras from Sony.
Specifically at Sony FDRX3000/W.
The most noticeable difference between GoPro and Sony cameras is the warm and cold light. GoPro usually is a bit warmer image.
What Video Equipment Does Jake Paul Use?
Now that we’ve reviewed Jake Paul’s cameras let’s move to lenses.
He uses two Sony lenses:
Both lenses are quite expensive – around 2000 USD each.
Remember that if you’re just starting, you don’t need such expensive equipment. MrBeast got his first 100 000 subscribers on YouTube by filming on his iPhone 5.
As for the mic, Jake uses Rode VideoMic Pro+. This and Rode VideoMic Go are very popular external mics among many YouTubers.
Of course, the Pro+ is a better choice. It automatically switches on when the camera starts recording – a feature that can save you from having videos with bad sound and something that is not available with Rode VideoMic Go.
It also has a rechargeable and removable lithium battery.
So, how much does all of Jakes’s video equipment costs? Cameras cost approximately 4100 USD. Add 3000 USD for lenses. The microphone costs around 300 USD. Add a few tripods – 100 USD. 240 USD for video editing software per year.
It is safe to say that Jake Paul’s video equipment costs around 7500 USD.
It is nice to have equipment like that. I guess it makes you feel better and more confident about what you’re doing. But in reality, you don’t need any of that to start a YouTube channel.
You can start recording videos with your smartphone. External mic could be the first thing to add – it will improve your audio quality by a mile.
Regarding video editing, you don’t need a professional and paid software. Get Lightworks, iMovie or Windows Movie Maker instead. Yes, you could miss out on some video effects and other features, but in most cases, it won’t be the reason why people will choose to follow you.
What Editing Software does Jake Paul Use?
Jake Paul is using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Adobe Premiere Pro is a video editing software for professionals. Of course, you could still use it for your first YouTube videos, but you also could find software that is simpler and cheaper than Premiere Pro.
Alternatively, you could use Final Cut Pro.
So, I hope you had a good read.
Do not hesitate to leave a comment if you’ve spotted another camera used by Jake Paul, and I will update the article right away.
If you already own a vlogging camera, please let me and the rest know which camera is it and do you find it good enough for your vlogs.
Thanks, and see you on YouTube.
