1. Me At The Zoo

So the first video that was uploaded on YouTube was “Me At The Zoo” by Jawed Karim. Jawed is one of the co-founders of YouTube, and he uploaded this video on April 23, 2005.

The first thing said on YouTube was this: “All right, so here we are in front of the elephants. The cool thing about these guys is that they have really long trunks, and that’s, that’s cool. And that’s pretty much all there is to say.”

Technically this video was published in Jawed’s channel seven months before YouTube was officially launched in November 2005.

The reason for this unknown, but the comments section of this video is a weird place. New comments begging for new subscribers appear every minute. Leave a comment if you know why is that?

If you want to find out what was the first YouTube comment or who was the first YouTuber to hit 1 million subscribers or other interesting facts, read my article “Who Was The First YouTuber?”

So the third video on YouTube. There is this one YouTube comment by When she open that window: “First video that doesn’t involve snowboards and elephants.” Well, on the day the video was posted it couldn’t be more true.

It is also the first video on YouTube with someone saying OMG.

They only had like 25 seconds of footage left to capture this video. So you better watch it and appreciate their effort.

Like KryptikTV commented: “The first video that made you mute the video.”

It is just a video of two men riding a boat. Boat driver is saying something to the person with the camera, but the wind noise is so bad that it is impossible to hear nothing.

Make sure to turn down the volume before watching this video.

A short paragraph from the channels description: “Myself and my buddies Michael and Jake snowboarding at the local golf course. We are all dressed the same. but I’m the one that does the Japan Air, Michael does the 180 (among many better tricks), and Jake does the Flying Squirrel.”

Unlike the first six YouTube videos, this video has decent video editing and even a few visual effects.

8. Tribute

Some say that it is Jawed (co-founder of YouTube and the man who published the first video on YouTube) who captured this video. The background voice sounds like him, so that might be true.

It had to be pretty cool being able to choose your initials as the name for your YouTube channel.

That’s it! Those were the 16 oldest videos on YouTube. It is how all of it started.

Did you notice how short YouTube videos were back in the days? Most videos were 5 to 15 seconds long, but nowadays, everyone is trying to make videos longer because it pays better that way.

Now the average video length by professional YouTubers is somewhere around 10 minutes.

And look at the names and descriptions for the videos on this list. Short and simple.

Leave a comment if you notice a mistake in the numbers, and I will do my best to edit the article as soon as possible.

I hope you had a good read.

Thank you, and see you on YouTube.
